Suomen Pankki

Suomen Pankki (Bank of Finland, suomenpankki.fi) is the national central bank. For a company it is a source of macroeconomic statistics: ECB euro reference rates, Finnish banks’ loans, deposits and interest rates, investment funds, and debt securities. It also publishes a statistics calendar.

It does not grant start-up loans. Credit for firms comes from commercial banks and from Finnvera.

Use these series when interest rates, the euro or household credit affect your costs or your customers — for example import prices, a floating-rate loan, or construction demand.

Practical advice

For the euro rate used in accounting, use the ECB reference rates linked from the Bank of Finland site.

For consumer prices and GDP, use Tilastokeskus as well.

Where to seek advice

The best place to start is Bank of Finland statistics: https://www.suomenpankki.fi/en/statistics/

The statistics pages and the publication calendar are here. Feedback: tilastopalaute@bof.fi. For a bank loan, speak to your own bank or Finnvera, not the central bank.

  • Tilastokeskus — CPI, GDP and labour-market statistics.
  • Finnvera — Public SME financing.
