THL (Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, thl.fi) produces health, welfare and social-service statistics and research. Sotkanet is the main indicator service. You can cut many indicators by municipality or wellbeing services county (hyvinvointialue).

THL does not grant care licences and does not pay Kela benefits. Permits sit with Valvira and other authorities. Benefits sit with Kela.

Use THL when the market depends on health or social need: ageing, disability, mental health, children, substance use, or how public services are used. Combine it with population counts from Tilastokeskus.

Practical advice

Open Sotkanet, choose the indicator, then choose the area. Compare the county with the whole country.

Do not use a disease statistic as a health claim in marketing. Product rules for foods, medicines and devices are separate.
